No, there are no mandatory on-campus components for the Online MBA. However, online students are welcome to join us on campus for optional in-person events like commencement, alumni panels, career fairs, networking events and student organization activities.

Yes, there are optional synchronous sessions available for students. Faculty hold weekly synchronous sessions that are recorded and posted on the learning management system for students who cannot attend.

Online students have full access to the virtual offerings of the Business Career Center and online library services. Online students are also invited to join business student organizations and attend on-campus events. However, online students don't receive an iCard, which provides access to the physical library, recreation center and other on-campus facilities.

All Online MBA courses are delivered in eight-week terms. Courses are asynchronous with optional synchronous sessions, so students can access materials and complete assignments on their own schedules as long as they meet any required due dates.

While a 3.0 undergraduate GPA is preferred, UIC Business takes a holistic approach to reviewing applications. Professional accomplishments and other factors are also considered.
GMAT/GRE test scores are optional, but competitive scores may help your chances of admission and being awarded merit aid.
There is no strict work experience requirement. However, MBA programs are more beneficial for applicants with at least two years of work experience. For those with less experience, the admissions committee typically looks for a minimum 3.0 GPA and quality work experience, which can include internships.

The personal statement should address:

  • What strengths and attributes you will bring to the program
  • What professional experiences have led you to determine that business school is the right next step
  • Your career aspirations after business school

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Decisions are typically made within 10 business days for the Online MBA. Decisions may take longer for the Flex MBA depending on interview scheduling.

Yes, both programs accept international students. International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through test scores such as TOEFL, IELTS or PTE-Academic.
