Admission Requirements
At UIC Business, we have a holistic admission process that considers your undergraduate record, professional experience, personal statement and letters of recommendation.
- Academic Background: 3.0 GPA is preferred, but we will consider applicants with lower GPAs who demonstrate strong professional experience or other qualifications.
- Professional Experience: While not strictly required, professional experience is valued, particularly for applicants with less than a 3.0 GPA.
- GMAT/GRE: Test scores are optional, but they may increase your chances of admission.

Application Checklist
It takes less than 10 minutes to begin your application, and your progress is automatically saved throughout the process. You can easily pause and return to complete your application at your convenience.
There is no need to complete the application in one sitting — take the time you need to present your best application. When you're ready, you will submit through our online application portal.
There is a $70 application fee for our programs. However, the fee is waived for UIC alumni.
We require transcripts from all colleges and universities you've attended. Unofficial digital copies are sufficient for our review process, and official transcripts will be requested only for admitted students.
The personal statement is our opportunity to get to know you beyond your resume and transcripts. In 250 words or less for each response, please share:
- What unique strengths and attributes you'll bring to UIC Business and our MBA community
- How your professional experiences have led you to this point and where you see your career heading after earning your MBA
This is your chance to tell your story and help us understand the person behind the application. We look forward to learning about your motivations, your aspirations and what makes you a great fit for UIC Business.
Upload a current resume that showcases your career journey, accomplishments and skills. Include relevant work experience, leadership roles and any notable achievements that highlight your potential.
Submit two letters of recommendation from professional references who can speak to your abilities and readiness for graduate study. Current or former supervisors make excellent recommenders as they can highlight your workplace contributions and potential.
Once you enter your recommenders' contact information in our application system, they'll receive an electronic form to complete.
Qualified candidates will be invited for a virtual interview after the Admission Committee reviews their application.
